Policies & positions

March of Dimes advocates for women, infants, children and families across a wide range of issues at the federal and state levels.  Broadly, our advocacy priorities fall into four major categories:

  • Access to care:  health insurance, Affordable Care Act, Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program, quality improvement, health information technology, and more
  • Research and surveillance:  maternal and child health research, medical research issues, newborn screening, birth defects surveillance, and more
  • Prevention and education:  prematurity prevention, tobacco prevention, immunizations, substance abuse, folic acid promotion, environmental health, and more
  • Tax-exempt organization issues:  tax treatment of charitable contributions, postal rates, pension issues, non-profit organizations’ activities, and more

Check below regularly for a sample list of documents stating March of Dimes policies and positions on an array of maternal and child health priorities, including Congressional testimony, endorsement of legislation, letters to agencies about regulations or other initiatives, and sign-on letters.
